As life slows down across the world and we stick a little bit closer to home, we wanted to share with you a weekend getaway 30 minutes from Columbus that’s great for people AND DOGS! BrewDog (the one in Canal Winchester) offered up the perfect staycation for our family to enjoy beers, bring our dogs, and fill our bellies with A LOT of delicious food.

*Disclaimer: due to COVID, there are extra precautions in place and not everything may be available

Where to stay:

BrewDog Hotel - This small boutique hotel features industrial décor that even has a beer shower in each room- this is the perfect retreat for those who love beer, dogs, and nature! We stayed at the one in Canal Winchester, however, there is a smaller hotel in the Short North area as well.

WHAT TO EAT: The hotel and restaurant are side by side, making it super easy to grab a meal and beverages!

Food/Drink recommendations: We have literally tried everything on the menu- below are some of our favorites:

  • Deniro Pizza- for the meat lovers!!

  • Grazing Goat Pizza- pine nuts and goat cheese are the go to’s for the Walker sisters, so this is a no brainer.

  • Patriot Burger- when you want a hearty and filling meal- go here!

  • SUPER SALAD- Perfect for hot summer days, add chicken to go for a healthier meal.

  • Mexican Street Corn- ALWAYS SAY YES TO CORN!! (at least if you’re from the midwest)

  • East Coast Crush- Lower alcoholic content and easier to drink during a hot day!

  • Elvis Juice- A delicious IPA that isn’t too hoppy with subtle hints of fruit.

WHAT TO DO:

We wanted some physical exercise and decided to rent mountain bikes at Cyclist Connection and head over to Chestnut Ridge – honestly slightly terrifying, but such a fun way to connect and get outside! There is also a bike path behind BrewDog so you can rent road bikes and cruise along the path if rough terrain is not for you.

Games- there are so many different games offered at BrewDog; from giant jenga, to cornhole and all the boardgames inside- you can go back to being a kid at heart.

Brewery Tour and Museum- if beer is your thing, or your significant other’s thing, take a brewery tour where you learn how BrewDog beer is made! There is also a unique museum at the front of the restaurant which you can walk through and explore how BrewDog began, as well as a lot of cool science facts about the creation of beer (Alex most likely didn’t pay attention to this part).

Now that summer weather is here, we hope you can still enjoy some fun things outside during these social distancing times!
