Ohio's Amish Country : Millersburg
Birthdays are a big deal, or at least they are in Alex’s eyes. Plus it’s always fun searching for unique ways to celebrate with your closest friends and family. Two years ago, I was looking for a drivable location for a weekend getaway and found the most perfect Airbnb. The Dwelling was a retreat unlike any other- so, packing up all the goodies and 8 of my closest friends we left Columbus and headed for the rolling hills of Ohio’s wine country.
WHERE TO STAY:
· THE DWELLING (AIRBNB)- This location was an hour drive from downtown Columbus! You will not regret staying here and will dream of going back, you can rent one floor or both depending on the amount of people! 9 girls took up only one apartment and we were able to enjoy the rooftop patio Friday night and grill out 😊
WHAT TO DO (DRINK A LOT OF WINE):
Since we all loved wine, and Millersburg doesn’t have uber we struggled with how to get around. Luckily, my mother has a large SUV and drove us to all our destinations- I would recommend renting a party bus for the day if someone isn’t willing to be the DD.
· HEINI’S CHEESE CHALET- Come here first to load up on all the snacks before the day begins!
· DOUGHTY GLEN WINERY- Perfect venue to sit outside and order a few bottles
· BALTIC MILL WINERY- Antique feels, we explored the upstairs and then sat in the common room- Great for a rainy day!
· BREITENBACH WINERY- Unreal food truck, as well as rows of vineyards for a picturesque end to the day!
P.S We additionally brought games, bracelet making kits and frozen pizzas to fill the balance of our Saturday night!
